Anthropic has released its latest AI model with Claude Opus 5.5. The new version arrives about two months after the previous Opus model upgrade, matching Anthropic’s previous upgrade cadence.

Two high-profile computer scientists from Princeton University, and coauthors of the book AI Snake Oil, have weighed in on the question of whether AI will kill us all by the end of the decade.

The pair have become well known for their work in separating fact from fiction in the AI world, and have now responded to an admission by Anthropic that there is a greater than 10% chance that AI could kill all humans within the next ten years …

Meta AI just launched a brand-new iPhone app called Muse from Meta. Similar to Grok Bot in presentation, Muse is a personal AI agent that handles tasks for you.

In April, OpenAI released upgraded image generation technology with ChatGPT Images 2. Five months later, the company is releasing an enhanced version, ChatGPT Images 2.5.

CarPlay has picked up its fifth major AI chatbot app with the addition of Claude. Anthropic’s iPhone app adding CarPlay is the second AI chatbot app to be updated with support this week.

Last month, SpaceXAI launched Grok Bot, an iMessage-style AI system that displays agents as teammates. The product originally arrived as an iPhone and Mac app with a very expensive price tag. In the weeks since launch, Grok Bot has expanded to the iPad and dramatically lowered the cost.

Update: A day later, GPT-6 Astra is rolling out to Business and Pro customers on the $100/month or $200/month plan. This follows other new model releases before Plus customers on the $20/month plan gain access.

Update #2: A few hours later, Plus users with the $20/month subscription now have Astra access as well.

It’s not just you. Claude, ChatGPT/Codex, and Grok are currently experiencing what appears to be a widespread outage for many users.

While computer use isn’t new for Claude on the desktop, running it in the background is a nice upgrade.

In June, Anthropic first released Fable 5, its Mythos-class AI model for Claude. Three months later, Anthropic is enhancing Claude with its new Fable 5.1 model upgrade.

Meta is launching Muse Voice Transcribe, its first real-time audio perception model. It brings multilingual, streaming transcription to Meta AI for Mac, Muse Code, and developers through the Meta Model API.

Aside from being featured by Apple in the M6 Mac mini launch, Perplexity has been relatively quiet on the Mac front this summer. That changes today with hybrid compute for Mac.

Since iOS 26.4, Apple has supported conversational apps on CarPlay.

This category includes AI chatbot apps. Siri AI joins the CarPlay party starting with iOS 27. The iPhone software update is currently in beta ahead of the official launch in September.

Meanwhile, the fourth third-party AI chatbot has arrived with Apple CarPlay support: Meta AI.

OpenAI first launched its free ChatGPT for Teachers program in 2025. Today the company announced a vast expansion of the program, covering 55 additional school systems across 20 states.

Well, this seems interesting. ChatGPT’s latest update adds a new Mac integration: the ability to work with conversations from Apple’s Messages app. The feature works with iMessage, SMS, and RCS.

OpenAI is giving ChatGPT and Codex a new way to learn from and remember how you use your Mac, even when that work happens outside the app.

Matic has added voice and gesture control to its robot vacuum and mop through a software update called Matic Cues. After testing both features, the short and sweet of it is that voice control is really good.

Just say, “Hey Matic, vacuum the kitchen,” and Matic gets to work. There is no phone to unlock, app to open, or smart home intermediary involved. You speak directly to the robot, and it responds.

Matic Cues understands commands in more than 70 spoken languages. The feature is rolling out to every existing Matic through an over-the-air software update and will be included on all new robots.

OpenAI is previewing a new way to run its most capable GPT-5.6 model at dramatically higher speeds. The company says its new Ultrafast service tier can run GPT-5.6 Sol up to 14 times faster than standard processing.

SpaceXAI seems to be in the process of repairing Grok’s reputation. From the recent Cursor acquisition to yesterday’s Grok Bot agent release, the company is getting more serious about its models. Today’s Grok 4.6 release builds on that effort with what SpaceXAI says is intelligence comparable to OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol and Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5.

SpaceXAI and Cursor are in the process of becoming a single company, but first, the two firms are releasing an all-new iPhone and Mac app called Grok Bot.
