Official documents suggest Nintendo DS games coming to Switch 2 with dual-screen modes

Ahead of the official Switch 2 launch, rumors suggested we could be seeing some official dual-screen action on Nintendo’s new console by way of a secondary USB-C port. We already know there are some not so perfect workarounds for using  second display on Switch 2, even your iPad, but the real question is, and has been for some time, when is Nintendo bringing DS to Nintendo Classics and how is it going to deal with the second display setup on those games? Update 10/14: The Assassin’s Creed Shadows Switch 2 release date has now leaked courtesy of a particularly reliable source – the game is expected to launch in Europe on December 5 – that likely means it will be right around then in the U.S. as well, if this date is indeed the real thing. This source also claims an official announcement will hit on or before November 7.

Update – Live again: Nintendo Virtual Boy hardware now up for purchase

Update: The new Virtual Boy hardware is now available for purchase directly from Nintendo for Switch Online members. “This product can be purchased by those who have a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. To play games in the Virtual Boy – Nintendo Classics, you will need an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. The Nintendo Switch Lite is not compatible.”

During today’s lengthy Nintendo Direct, we did not get any updates on the Switch Online GameCube library, but Nintendo did officially announce Virtual Boy! It is ready to add an entirely new console to its Nintendo Classics collection in the form of the ultra-retro Virtual Boy library alongside an actual Virtual Boy peripheral you stick your Switch or Switch 2 inside of. The My Nintendo Store Switch 2 pre-order invites have gone out and that means the first chance to score one of the new wireless GameCube controllers has too, but the actual Switch Online GameCube library won’t launch until June 5 when the Switch 2 does.
