Apple officially announces iPhone 17e with MagSafe, 2x base storage, ‘soft pink’ color

Apple has officially announced the new iPhone 17e. This model includes Apple’s MagSafe wireless charging technology, unlike iPhone 16e which simply featured basic wireless charging without MagSafe accessory support. The new model starts at the same price as its predecessor while offering twice the storage.

Apple also has three color options this time: black, white, and a new soft pink.

Apple has discontinued the iPhone Upgrade Program in the UK, according to changes made to its website. The company says it is starting a “new chapter for upgrades” and that “the iPhone Upgrade Program is coming to an end.”

Apple also appears to be winding down its partnership with Barclays, which was the bank behind the iPhone Upgrade Program in the UK.

Craig Federighi rejected feature that would use AI to design your iPhone’s home screen: report

A new report from The Information today dives into the current structure of Apple’s AI organization, now overseen by Craig Federighi. According to the story, Federighi is responsible for Apple’s decision to start using models from outside companies like Google.

The report also corroborates previous reporting in saying that Federighi was an “AI skeptic” until trying OpenAI’s ChatGPT in late 2022.
